Air China will begin the first scheduled international passenger service operated by the COMAC C919 on 12 August, deploying the aircraft on daily Beijing Capital–Ulaanbaatar flights. The narrowbody will operate the CA723/CA724 rotation between the Chinese capital and Mongolia’s capital, extending the type’s commercial flying beyond mainland China for the first time on a regular passenger route.
The C919 has already been used extensively on domestic services and some regional operations, but this route is its first routine international passenger deployment. Air China is assigning one daily return service to the aircraft, replacing the previous equipment used on the sector. The schedule puts CA723 out of Beijing in the afternoon, with the return leg later the same day.
China Daily reported that the aircraft had operated 57 routes across 25 cities as of 10 August and had carried more than 7.5 million passenger trips. The Beijing–Ulaanbaatar service gives COMAC a visible test of the jet’s acceptance on a cross-border commercial route as it seeks to broaden the C919’s market beyond domestic flying.
