Air Canada has expanded its mobility-aid travel policy, allowing eligible passengers to travel with up to three mobility aids at no extra charge, including wheelchairs, adaptive sports equipment and lifting or transfer devices. If an item is too large to travel on the same aircraft, Air Canada Cargo will move it within Canada free of charge, while the airline has also introduced app-based tracking to show loading and unloading status.
The Montréal-based carrier has reviewed handling procedures and invested in specialised lift equipment at Canadian airports, alongside continued employee training. The changes are aimed at easing travel for customers who rely on mobility aids, including disabled travellers and adaptive athletes, by reducing uncertainty around equipment handling and transport. The policy forms part of Air Canada’s wider accessibility push and covers personal mobility aids, adaptive sports gear and related devices within the new allowance.
