AerFin has agreed to acquire 44 Boeing 737NG aircraft and their 88 CFM56-7B engines from Qantas in a transaction the UK aftermarket company describes as the largest in its history. The aircraft will transfer progressively over seven years, with the first handover expected in 2026. The agreement gives AerFin a long-term supply of airframes and engines while allowing Qantas to phase out most of its 737 fleet as replacement aircraft arrive.
Qantas will retain the 737s in service during the transition. Domestic chief executive Markus Svensson said they would continue flying alongside the airline’s growing next-generation fleet for many years. Qantas expects to receive up to 24 new aircraft in 2026, and the handover schedule can be adjusted to maintain flexibility as deliveries progress.
For AerFin, the fleet provides material to support airline and maintenance, repair and overhaul customers with parts and aftermarket services. The company also expects the deal to strengthen its presence in the Asia-Pacific region. The financial terms and identities of the individual aircraft were not disclosed; the agreement covers future transfers rather than an immediate sale of all 44 aircraft.
