Safran to divest Safran Cabin following notable growth

Safran has launched a process to divest Safran Cabin, the aircraft-interiors business supplying overhead bins, galleys, lavatories and water- and waste-management systems. The decision follows strong third-quarter activity with customers in the Middle East, Europe and the Americas, while the business generates approximately €2 billion in annual revenue and remains profitable on an EBIT and free-cash-flow basis.

Safran CFO Pascal Bantegnie disclosed the move during the group’s third-quarter earnings call, saying the process had begun a few weeks earlier. No potential buyer, transaction value, timetable or completion date has been disclosed.

Safran inherited Cabin through its acquisition of Zodiac Aerospace in 2018 and has since reviewed and divested selected non-core interiors activities. The proposed sale would separate one of the group’s largest aircraft-interiors operations from Safran as it continues to reshape its portfolio.

Across Safran’s wider aircraft-interiors activities, third-quarter revenue increased by approximately 5.8% organically. The group reported particularly strong Cabin activity alongside momentum in both original-equipment and aftermarket operations, with the aftermarket benefiting from growth in the Middle East, Europe and the Americas.
