Saab’s Q3 orders triple on Ukraine Gripen E and GlobalEye deals

Saab booked SEK 65.825 billion in orders during the third quarter of 2026, more than three times the SEK 20.861 billion recorded a year earlier, driven by major contracts for 16 Gripen E fighters for Ukraine, two GlobalEye aircraft for an undisclosed Middle Eastern customer and systems for German Navy frigates.

The SEK 24.6 billion Gripen contract was signed with Sweden’s Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) in June and entered Saab’s order intake during the quarter. Saab’s deliveries to FMV are scheduled for 2029–2030; the contract covers the aircraft, spare parts and associated equipment.

The GlobalEye order was valued at SEK 10.1 billion, with deliveries scheduled for 2030. Saab has not identified the customer, citing the nature of the industry and national-security interests. The German frigate systems order was worth SEK 8.7 billion.

Quarterly sales rose 30.6% organically to SEK 20.553 billion from SEK 15.871 billion. Saab’s chief executive, Micael Johansson, linked the strong order intake to customer demand for Gripen, GlobalEye and naval systems. The awards increase production requirements across Saab’s combat-aircraft, airborne-surveillance and naval-defence portfolios as European defence investment accelerates.
