Lufthansa to launch Frankfurt–Columbus route in May 2027

Lufthansa will launch nonstop service between Frankfurt Airport and John Glenn Columbus International Airport on 5 May 2027, giving Central Ohio its first scheduled passenger connection to Europe and Ohio’s first nonstop link with Germany. The route will operate three times weekly using a Boeing 787-9 fitted with Lufthansa’s Allegris cabin, providing 287 seats across business, premium economy and economy classes.

Flights will operate on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. The Columbus departure is scheduled for 16:20, arriving in Frankfurt at 06:15 the following day, while the return flight will leave Frankfurt at 11:15 and reach Columbus at 14:00. All times are local and remain subject to the published schedule.

The aircraft configuration comprises 28 business-class seats, 28 premium-economy seats and 231 economy seats. From Lufthansa’s Frankfurt hub, passengers will be able to connect to more than 130 destinations across Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia.

Bookings opened on 20 October as part of Lufthansa Group’s 2027 summer schedule. The service is supported by JobsOhio’s Air Service Restoration programme and regional partners through revenue guarantees intended to reduce the commercial risk of establishing the route. Lufthansa is targeting demand from business and leisure travellers, with Central Ohio’s German business ties providing an important market base.
