Gulfstream has added the first G400 test aircraft with a fully equipped passenger cabin to the flight-test programme, expanding evaluation beyond basic aircraft performance to include the cabin installation and associated systems. The aircraft completed its initial flight from Dallas Love Field, Texas, as the company continues development of its new-generation large-cabin business jet family.
The aircraft is the fourth and final G400 to join the test fleet. The type made its first flight in August 2024, and Gulfstream is now conducting parallel flight-test campaigns for the G400 and the super-midsize G300. The company describes testing as accelerating, while the third G300 test aircraft is being assembled by Israel Aerospace Industries in Tel Aviv.
The fully outfitted G400 will enable flight-condition testing of the production-representative cabin, including its installation and related systems. Gulfstream has not provided a firm certification timetable. The aircraft had originally been expected to enter service or begin deliveries in 2026, but current programme updates do not confirm that schedule. Gulfstream President Mark Burns has also declined to predict when certification will be achieved, citing the certification process rather than a company-controlled timetable.
