VINCI Airports traffic slips as European growth offsets Asian declines

VINCI Airports handled 93.5 million passengers in the third quarter of 2026, a 0.6% year-on-year decline as geopolitical disruption in Asia and high kerosene prices weighed on some markets. Growth at airports in Europe and Latin America largely offset the weakness, leaving traffic for the first nine months broadly stable at 252.5 million passengers, down 0.2% from a year earlier.

Budapest recorded the strongest European performance, with passenger traffic up 12% during the quarter. Porto grew 7.1%, Belgrade 6.7% and Edinburgh 4.3%, while traffic also increased in Costa Rica, Cape Verde and the Dominican Republic.

Asian operations were weaker. Traffic across VINCI’s Japanese airports, including Kansai Airports, fell 8.8%, while Cambodia Airports declined 20% amid regional tensions and lower demand from China and Thailand. Santiago Airport in Chile fell 2.2%.

London Gatwick traffic decreased 2.9%, although the decline moderated as strong summer demand and five new Jet2 aircraft based at the airport partly offset the effects of low-cost-carrier network restructuring. Commercial aircraft movements across the VINCI Airports network fell 1.0% in the quarter and 1.5% in the first nine months.
