The Canadian Forces Snowbirds are scheduled to perform their final CT-114 Tutor air show at 15 Wing Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, on 16 October, closing the team’s 2026 aerobatic season with the Canadian-built jet. The private “Home Closer” is reserved for squadron members, families, alumni and invited guests, while the Royal Canadian Air Force will livestream the performance publicly from noon local time, or 2 p.m. Eastern.
The Snowbirds have flown the Tutor since 1971; the aircraft entered Royal Canadian Air Force service in 1963. Lieutenant-Colonel Guillaume Paquet, commanding officer of 431 Air Demonstration Squadron, described the event as the end of the Tutor era rather than the end of the Snowbirds.
The aircraft are scheduled to make one final appearance during a flyover at the Grey Cup in Calgary on 15 November. After that event, all Tutors are expected to be flown to IMP Aerospace in Trenton, Ontario, by 31 March 2027 for decommissioning. Some will be preserved or displayed in museums, while others will become maintenance-training aids; none will remain flyable.
The replacement is the Swiss-designed CT-157 Siskin II, which is on order. The Snowbirds are expected to suspend performances during a multi-year training and transition period, with a return to air shows not anticipated until the early 2030s. High winds and low cloud already cancelled the scheduled 15 October practice, leaving the format of the farewell dependent on weather conditions.
