American Airlines, KLM and Royal Air Maroc have committed to new Starlink connectivity programmes covering more than 1,000 American mainline aircraft, KLM’s intercontinental fleet and 41 Royal Air Maroc aircraft. Installations are scheduled to begin in early 2027 at American and Royal Air Maroc, while KLM plans a phased launch from mid-2027, with free access linked to Flying Blue or Safar Flyer membership on equipped aircraft.
American’s programme will cover Airbus and Boeing narrowbody and widebody aircraft across its mainline network. The carrier expects to become one of the largest Starlink-connected airline fleets, although the plan excludes American Eagle regional aircraft. Installations are due to start in early 2027, with no completion date or programme cost disclosed.
KLM will introduce Starlink on intercontinental flights in all cabin classes. Flying Blue members will receive free access on equipped aircraft, with the service designed to support browsing, email, music, gaming and streaming. The low-Earth-orbit network is intended to provide connectivity over oceans, remote routes and land-based sectors.
Royal Air Maroc will gradually equip 41 aircraft from early 2027. Free access will be available to Safar Flyer members once individual aircraft are fitted, making the Moroccan carrier the first African airline to announce an onboard Starlink programme. The airline has not specified the aircraft types, initial routes or completion date for the rollout.
