Three killed, 36 injured in attacks on Riyadh and Abha airports

Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation said attacks on Abha International Airport and King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh killed three people and injured 36 others. The incidents, which targeted airport facilities on two consecutive days, also caused property damage and prompted emergency teams to respond under established airport contingency procedures.

At Abha, two women were killed, including residents of Moroccan and Algerian nationality, and 28 people were injured. The injured included Saudi citizens and residents from Bangladesh and the Philippines, with injuries ranging from minor to serious. At King Khalid airport, a Sudanese resident was killed and eight people were injured, including Saudi citizens, Egyptian residents and a Pakistani resident.

All injured people were taken to hospitals for treatment. The authority is coordinating with relevant agencies to assess damage, verify the safety of the facilities and maintain security for passengers and airport employees.

Yemen’s Houthi fighters claimed responsibility for the strikes, saying drones and missiles were used against the two airports.
