Saudia Group is moving towards a substantial aircraft order for Saudia and flyadeal, with deliveries under discussion for the 2031-2040 period. The planned fleet purchase, which would cover both growth and replacement needs across the two airlines, still requires board approval before the tender process can begin.
Sanjiv Kapoor, the group’s executive vice president of strategy and acting chief executive of flyadeal, said the fleet assessment has been completed and the next step is a request for proposal process once the board gives the green light. The size of the order has not been disclosed, and the final split between Airbus and Boeing remains undecided.
The timing leaves the carrier group several years ahead of first delivery, allowing it to align any new aircraft with longer-term network and renewal plans. Kapoor indicated the order could be placed in a single batch or divided into tranches, leaving room for a phased procurement strategy depending on board direction and market conditions.
Industry reporting earlier this year pointed to preliminary discussions with Airbus and Boeing for at least 150 jets, suggesting the eventual deal could rank among Saudia Group’s largest fleet commitments. Any order would likely include a mix of narrowbody and widebody aircraft, but the model selection has not been confirmed.
