GE Aerospace and the GE Aerospace Foundation will invest nearly $1 million in workforce training across Southwest Ohio, with roughly $500,000 flowing through the Lifting Futures programme to support regional aerospace and manufacturing labour needs. The funding will help Sinclair Community College, the Hobart Institute of Welding Technology and the Talent Collaborative of Greater Cincinnati expand training capacity, recruit students and improve coordination across the Cincinnati-Dayton corridor.
The first-round grants are expected to support about 200 workers and students. Sinclair plans to widen manufacturing and welding training and introduce an accelerated technician programme, while the Hobart Institute will recruit students into open welding seats. The Talent Collaborative will focus on mapping the region to strengthen longer-term workforce coordination.
Lifting Futures is the foundation’s workforce initiative and is designed to train 10,000 people by 2030. The Southwest Ohio funding forms part of a broader effort to build the skilled labour pipeline for aerospace and advanced manufacturing in a region that has been facing sustained demand for technicians, welders and entry-level production workers.
