Boeing has secured an undefinitised contract action worth about $14.7 billion to scale production of PAC-3 Missile Segment Enhancement seekers, formalising a seven-year framework that will triple output. The work is centred on Boeing’s Huntsville, Alabama, operations and supports the Patriot interceptor supply chain at a time of strong demand from U.S. and allied missile defence customers.
The award was issued by Lockheed Martin, the prime contractor for the PAC-3 MSE interceptor, and aligns with the Pentagon’s push to expand industrial capacity under its Acquisition Transformation Strategy and Arsenal of Freedom initiative. Boeing had already begun ramping production and hiring earlier this year after the framework was set out in April.
The company has invested in facility expansion, supplier development and process improvements to prepare for the higher rate. Hundreds of direct and indirect jobs are expected in the Huntsville area as seeker production increases under the new arrangement.
