Stuttgart Airport resumes operations after security-area evacuation

Stuttgart Airport briefly suspended flight operations on Monday after the terminals in the security area were evacuated during a police operation, disrupting arrivals and departures for several hours. The affected area was searched, no danger was found and services were restored gradually once the measure ended.

Passengers had to go through security screening again after the evacuation, which extended the disruption while the airport returned to normal. Flights were delayed, diverted and in some cases cancelled or rerouted before operations restarted.

Local reporting later identified the trigger as a bomb threat allegedly made by a 24-year-old passenger in the security area, although initial coverage described the incident more generally as a police operation. The man was reportedly excluded from his flight to Hurghada, while the airport and federal police closed the case after ruling out any threat in the searched area.
