Missing Gulfstream G100 air ambulance triggers large Coast Guard search off Nantucket

A Gulfstream G100 air ambulance carrying six people vanished over the Atlantic on Saturday while flying from Bermuda to Boston, prompting a major U.S. Coast Guard search off Nantucket, Massachusetts. The aircraft, registered C-GRJP and operated by Hamilton, Ontario-based Latitude Air Ambulance, was on a medical evacuation mission when contact was lost in the early morning hours.

The Coast Guard deployed air and surface assets after being alerted by the Federal Aviation Administration, which lost contact with the jet shortly before its expected arrival in Boston. Search efforts were concentrated east of Massachusetts, near Nantucket, where the aircraft’s final known position was tracked. The six people on board included two pilots, two medical staff, a patient and a family member.

Later updates reported that a debris field linked to the missing aircraft had been found south of Nantucket, shifting the incident from a simple missing-aircraft case towards a likely accident scenario. The condition of the occupants has not been confirmed, and authorities had not released details on the cause of the loss of contact. The cross-border nature of the mission and the response by the U.S. Coast Guard made the case a significant event for both aviation and emergency medical transport operations.
