Airbus has reshaped its Board of Directors after a meeting in Amsterdam, with René Obermann leaving effective 1 October and Amparo Moraleda taking over as chair. The European aircraft manufacturer also named ASML chief executive Christophe Fouquet to fill Obermann’s remaining term, while Michelin chief executive Florent Menegaux was selected as a future board member to succeed Jean-Pierre Clamadieu later.
Obermann stepped aside to focus on his role as non-executive director and incoming chairman of SAP’s supervisory board. Fouquet will serve for the rest of Obermann’s term and then seek a full three-year mandate at the annual general meeting in April 2027. Moraleda and former BMW executive Oliver Zipse will also seek renewed three-year mandates at that meeting.
Airbus further named Mark Dunkerley as chair of the Remuneration, Nomination and Governance Committee and lead independent director, replacing Moraleda in those roles. The changes keep continuity at the top of the board while bringing in senior executives from ASML and Michelin as Airbus prepares for the next shareholder vote in 2027.
