British-Iranian man arrested in RAF Fairford investigation

Counter Terrorism Policing has arrested a 25-year-old dual UK-Iranian national in Westminster, London, in the investigation into suspicious activity near RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire. The man was detained on suspicion of preparation of terrorist acts, becoming the sixth arrest linked to the incident, while the five British men arrested on 27 September remain on police bail.

The wider inquiry began after reports of three suspicious vehicles travelling towards the air base in the early hours of 27 September. Armed officers responded and arrested the five men, all in their 20s, in the Whelford area near the base before releasing them on bail after extensive interviews and enquiries.

Police have said the case remains a complex counterterrorism investigation with multiple lines of enquiry under examination, including possible foreign state involvement. Two properties in London have also been searched as part of the ongoing probe. The suspect has not been named, and police have not disclosed the evidence behind the arrest or any alleged role in the wider case.
