AnimaWings has filed for judicial reorganisation in Bucharest after grounding all six of its Airbus A220-300 aircraft, leaving the Romanian carrier to operate only its two Airbus A320s. The move comes amid recurring technical problems, financial pressure and high operating costs, and has already triggered cancellations and schedule changes across parts of the network.
The airline’s passenger notice temporarily suspends operations from 2 to 24 October and points to a revised winter schedule from 25 October, based on the aircraft still available. The filing does not automatically halt the business, but it places the carrier in a restructuring process designed to preserve continuity and stabilise operations.
The A220 grounding has sharply reduced capacity because the type had accounted for a substantial share of AnimaWings’ network. Routes including Cluj-Napoca–Frankfurt, Cluj-Napoca–Vienna, Bucharest–Paris and Bucharest–Geneva have already seen disruption. The carrier has warned that further cancellations and timetable changes are likely in the coming days while it works to keep selected services operating with the remaining fleet.
