Airbus names ASML and Michelin chiefs to board as chairmanship changes hands

Airbus has reshaped its board with the departure of René Obermann as chairman and the handover of the chair role to Amparo Moraleda, completing a transition first outlined in April. Christophe Fouquet, chief executive of ASML, joins the board as a non-executive director, while Florent Menegaux, chief executive of Michelin, is set to take over a seat that will open when Jean-Pierre Clamadieu’s term ends in 2027.

Fouquet has been co-opted to serve the rest of Obermann’s term and will seek shareholder approval for a three-year mandate at the April 2027 annual general meeting. Moraleda and Oliver Zipse are also expected to seek renewal at that meeting, extending continuity at the top of the board while Airbus refreshes its industrial representation.

Mark Dunkerley has been appointed lead independent director and chair of the remuneration, nomination and governance committee, taking on responsibilities previously held by Moraleda. The changes bring in senior figures from ASML and Michelin at a time when Airbus is adjusting its governance structure and board leadership ahead of the next AGM cycle.
