Iran Air has returned its Airbus A319 EP-IEQ to operational service after repairing a faulty No. 2 engine that had grounded the aircraft since late July. The jet had been taken out of service during a departure from Tehran Imam Khomeini International Airport for Najaf, with the engine removed, repaired and reinstalled before post-maintenance testing and airworthiness steps.
The work was completed by Iran Air’s engineering and maintenance teams using domestic technical capacity, with the engine handled in the airline’s workshop before being transferred back to the airport for installation. An A-check was carried out alongside the repair to shorten the time the aircraft remained on the ground.
After the maintenance work and technical tests were completed, Iran Air submitted an application for a Certificate of Airworthiness to the Iranian Civil Aviation Organization. The return of EP-IEQ is operationally significant for the carrier’s narrowbody fleet, where keeping aircraft in service has direct implications for utilisation and schedule coverage.
