TAI’s first Hürjet for Turkish Air Force completes maiden flight on Victory Day

Turkish Aerospace Industries flew the first Hürjet destined for the Turkish Air Force on Victory Day, completing an 18-minute maiden flight after ground and taxi tests. The aircraft is the first serial-production, customer-configured example of Türkiye’s supersonic advanced jet trainer and light combat aircraft, and the flight was publicly confirmed by TAI and Defence Industries President Haluk Görgün.

The aircraft took off alongside the first Hürjet prototype, which first flew in April 2023. That distinction places the latest sortie firmly in the production phase of the programme rather than the original development campaign. The aircraft has completed final assembly and testing, but delivery timing and entry into service have not been confirmed.

The flight came on the 104th anniversary of Türkiye’s Victory Day and fits into the country’s wider indigenous combat-trainer and national aviation efforts. Hürjet is being developed under the coordination of the Presidency of Defence Industries as a key platform for the Turkish Air Force’s future training requirements.
