American Airlines will launch OneCabin on 14 September, deploying more than 60 maintenance technicians and dedicated repair teams across six hubs to speed fixes for broken seats, tray tables, in-flight entertainment systems and other visible cabin defects. The internal programme is aimed at improving cabin cleanliness, appearance and functionality on the carrier’s aircraft, while targeting recurring passenger-facing issues that can leave aircraft in service with obvious damage.
The work will be centred at Charlotte, Dallas/Fort Worth, Los Angeles, Miami, Philadelphia and Phoenix, giving Tech Ops dedicated staff at the airline’s largest station network. The move is designed to shorten the time between a defect being reported and a repair being completed, rather than relying on standard maintenance flows. Coverage around the initiative also points to a broader effort to tackle so-called duct-tape repairs and persistent interior wear, with the staffing plan positioned as a targeted operational fix rather than a fleetwide retrofit.
