GE Aerospace has used its Boeing 747 flying testbed to evaluate new engine technology, continuing work on airborne propulsion development and validation. The test activity underlines the role of large flying laboratories in engine research, where engineers can observe behaviour in real operating conditions rather than only in ground trials.
