Elbe Flugzeugwerke GmbH (EFW) has secured a seven-year maintenance contract from the German Armed Forces for NH90 helicopters, with the first aircraft due shortly at the company’s Dresden site. The work covers NH90 Tactical Transport Helicopters used by the German Army and includes regular inspections, modifications and component repairs.
The agreement gives EFW direct contractual responsibility for NH90 maintenance for the first time. Until now, the Dresden-based company had worked on the type as a subcontractor. EFW expects the new role to expand its helicopter-maintenance capability and underline the strategic importance of its Dresden facility.
The contract was announced on 24 August and matches earlier details circulating in German-language syndication and specialist aviation coverage. No contract value, fleet size or full maintenance timetable has been disclosed.
