easyJet targets more over-50 cabin crew in fresh UK hiring drive

easyJet is stepping up efforts to recruit more cabin crew aged over 50, with applications for several hundred UK-based roles due to open in September for start dates in 2027. The campaign spans the airline’s UK bases and continues a hiring strategy that presents cabin crew as a midlife career option as well as an early-career job.

over-50 cabin crew numbers at easyJet have more than doubled since 2022, while crew aged over 60 have risen sharply as well. The airline has highlighted life experience, customer service skills and workplace diversity as reasons to widen the recruitment pool, after earlier outreach initiatives aimed at older candidates.

The latest drive builds on previous “returnship” activity and comes amid broader labour pressures across aviation, where carriers are expanding recruitment to secure staff and strengthen customer-facing operations. Reported figures put over-50s at around 12% of easyJet’s cabin crew workforce, underlining how the airline is using age diversity as part of its staffing strategy.
