United Airlines will add 10 new international destinations in 2027 and bring the Airbus A321XLR into service on several Europe-bound routes, opening a broader long-haul expansion from Newark and Washington Dulles. The programme starts in March and includes new service to Okinawa, Toulouse, Luxembourg, Marseille, Ibiza, Valencia, Terceira, Ljubljana, Olbia and Catania.
Eight of the 10 destinations are in Europe, with United planning to use the A321XLR on routes including Newark-Luxembourg, Washington Dulles-Toulouse, Newark-Ibiza, Newark-Valencia and Newark-Marseille. The carrier is also adding three other international routes to existing destinations, including Los Angeles-Osaka, Washington Dulles-Milan and San Francisco-Tel Aviv. Several of the new routes remain subject to government approval.
The A321XLR will enter United’s international network earlier, on 1 December 2026, beginning with Washington Dulles-Amsterdam and Washington Dulles-Dublin. Tickets for those flights are due to go on sale on 27 August 2026. The aircraft gives United more flexibility to serve thinner long-haul markets, including leisure destinations in southern Europe that are less common in nonstop US service.
