Condor is changing its onboard food and beverage offer on short- and medium-haul flights, ending free water on its shortest sectors from 1 September and introducing paid water, tea and coffee. The German leisure carrier is also reorganising its catering around four block-time-based service levels, with further changes due on 1 November across its short- and medium-haul network.
The new structure replaces the previous route-category approach with levels covering flights of under 1:50 block time, under 3:40, under 6:00 and under 6:55, while Abu Dhabi codeshare services with Etihad are treated separately. Condor tested three beverage-service concepts before selecting the version that performed best with guests and cabin crews.
The changes affect more than the lowest-cost refreshment offer. In Economy, buy-on-board food remains available from level 2 onwards, while Business Class service becomes more closely tiered by flight length, with variations in meal format, pre-order options, dessert and an additional snack service on the longer levels. Duty-free sales will be restricted to level 3 routes to Egypt, Morocco and the Canary Islands.
