Skyguide’s summer 2026 traffic data show that Swiss airspace experienced its strongest traffic peaks on Fridays and Mondays, rather than at weekends, with 24 July the busiest day at 4,761 flights. The Swiss air navigation service provider managed 240,108 flights during the holiday period from 26 June to 17 August, averaging 4,503 a day, as Geneva and Zurich also handled heavy seasonal volumes.
The five busiest days all fell between early July and early August, pointing to a clear weekday shift in travel patterns across the summer peak. Nearly 93% of flights were handled on time, while 65% of delays were weather-related, underlining the operational role of storms and other disruptions in Swiss air traffic flow.
At airport level, Geneva averaged 481 movements a day and Zurich 839, reflecting the concentration of traffic at the country’s main hubs. The figures provide a seasonal planning reference for staffing, sequencing and capacity management in Swiss air traffic control, particularly during periods when business and leisure travel combine to drive demand on Mondays and Fridays.
