Lufthansa City Airlines’ first Airbus A220-300 is scheduled for delivery in November 2026, with the aircraft now moving through final assembly at Airbus Canada’s Mirabel site near Montreal. The jet, MSN 55501 and later to be registered D-ACAA, will make the German carrier the first in the country to operate the type in scheduled passenger service.
The aircraft is being completed on the final assembly line, where the fuselage sections are joined before engine installation and testing. Lufthansa City Airlines has 40 firm A220-300s on order, with deliveries planned through 2031. The fleet is expected to grow around a cabin layout of roughly 148 seats, giving the type a central role on domestic and European routes.
The A220-300 is due to enter service on Lufthansa City Airlines’ feeder network from Frankfurt and Munich, supporting traffic within the Lufthansa Group. Older Airbus A319s are set to be phased out over time as the new aircraft arrives, although no date has been confirmed for the first passenger flight.
