Alliance Aviation Services has appointed former flyadeal chief Steven Greenway as its next chief executive, with the leadership change coming as the Australian FIFO and charter operator adjusts to a revised Qantas wet-lease arrangement. Stewart Tully will step down after more than 11 years with the company, while Greenway is due to take over from 1 October and Tully will remain in place until 29 October to support the handover.
Greenway brings more than 25 years of aviation experience, including senior roles at Qantas-linked businesses, Scoot and WestJet, alongside his most recent post at flyadeal. The move follows a strategic reset at Alliance after the 5 August revision to its Qantas agreement, which reduced the number of aircraft committed to the partnership and prompted related organisational changes.
Chairman James Jackson said the board wanted to build on Alliance’s operational, commercial and cultural foundations while continuing to deliver sustainable returns for shareholders. Greenway framed his priorities around strengthening service, safety and reliability as Alliance pushes further into specialist FIFO aviation services. Tully’s departure closes a long tenure during which the company expanded and diversified its fleet, engineering capability and customer base.
