Four men linked to air cargo handling at Amsterdam Schiphol were arrested on 11 August in an investigation into suspected drug smuggling through the airport. The suspects, aged 34, 38, 46 and 48, are accused of helping to misuse logistics processes in Schiphol’s cargo chain, with the case centred on possible narcotics imports through the airport.
Dutch military police searched several homes and warehouses during the operation and seized cash and mobile phones. The investigation involves the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee, customs and the fiscal crimes unit, alongside police and local authorities in Haarlemmermeer, KLM and Schiphol. That coordination points to both an operational and reputational issue for the airport community.
The inquiry also includes a possible connection to a Belgian drug laboratory that was dismantled the same day, widening the cross-border scope of the case. The men have not been publicly named, and the companies involved have not been identified.
