Pilatus has opened a new composites centre in Nidwalden, Switzerland, bringing development, manufacturing, assembly, surface treatment, storage and order preparation for composite aircraft components under one roof. The Schwarzhorn building, inaugurated on 14 August 2026, is the company’s most expensive facility investment to date, with a reported cost of $123 million.
The centre consolidates work previously spread across multiple stages of the composite process, streamlining production at Pilatus’s Swiss manufacturing base. The building is dedicated to composite development and production and is designed to support higher internal capacity as the manufacturer expands its use of advanced materials.
The investment was also reported as 100 million Swiss francs, indicating the same project expressed in a different currency. The new facility strengthens Pilatus’s control over composite workflows and supports more efficient production of aircraft components at its core site in central Switzerland.
