A major fire destroyed dozens of vehicles at a private parking and warehouse facility in Louvres, north of Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport, on Tuesday afternoon. French media reported that the blaze broke out shortly after 3:00 pm local time at 32 avenue de la gare, prompting a large emergency response and temporary closure of two runways at CDG, although air traffic was not immediately reported to be significantly disrupted.
Fire crews fought the blaze with about 80 firefighters and 38 engines, while other reports placed the deployment at roughly 100 to 110 firefighters. The facility is used by airport travellers, and local transport was also affected, with a suburban rail station closed and bus services diverted.
Authorities had not identified the cause by the time of the latest reports. Emergency teams remained on scene as the fire was brought under control, and the extent of the damage was still being assessed.
