Etihad Airways has launched daily nonstop service between Abu Dhabi and Tashkent, opening its first route to Uzbekistan with an inaugural Airbus A320 flight on 10 August. The new connection links Zayed International Airport with Tashkent International Airport and begins with a sold-out debut service, giving the Uzbek capital direct access to Etihad’s Abu Dhabi hub and wider network.
The route forms part of Etihad’s Central Asia expansion and is paired with a codeshare partnership with Uzbekistan Airways. That arrangement extends onward connections from Tashkent to eight domestic destinations, including Samarkand, Bukhara, Fergana and Urgench. Etihad executive Frank Meyer described the launch as a milestone for the airline’s network growth.
State media in Uzbekistan reported the inaugural flight’s arrival in Tashkent on 10 August and confirmed that the service will operate daily with Airbus A320 aircraft. The new route adds another direct Gulf link for Uzbekistan as airlines continue to expand scheduled access to Central Asian markets.
