Vueling will operate 11 flights during the 12 August 2026 solar eclipse with passengers able to view the phenomenon from the air, including two services that cross the path of totality. The Barcelona-Lisbon and Palma de Mallorca-Lisbon routes are expected to place travellers in the total eclipse zone, while the remaining services should offer at least a partial view, weather permitting.
The programme covers a mix of routes linking Lisbon, Barcelona, Bilbao, Alicante, Sevilla, Santiago de Compostela, Ibiza, Málaga, Valencia and Paris. Aircraft will cruise at roughly 30,000 to 36,000 feet and carry special protective glasses for passengers on board.
The eclipse path crosses parts of Spain and the Balearic Islands, creating a rare opportunity for airline passengers to observe totality from cruise altitude. The selection of flights also gives Vueling a short-term scheduling and marketing focus around one of the year’s most unusual aviation viewing opportunities.
