Lufthansa Group to launch free Starlink Wi-Fi on 19 August

Lufthansa Group will launch free Starlink-powered in-flight Wi‑Fi under the new Lufthansa Group Wi‑Fi brand, with the first commercial flight set for 19 August on a Lufthansa Airbus A320neo. The service will be available free of charge to Miles & More customers and Travel ID users across all cabin classes, as the group begins a wider retrofit programme across its main airlines.

The rollout will expand from Lufthansa to SWISS, Austrian Airlines and Brussels Airlines, with the group targeting a full Starlink fit-out of its fleet by 2029. Lufthansa Group has framed the project as a major upgrade to onboard connectivity and positioned Starlink as the fastest internet service available to passengers at launch.

The network-wide programme is expected to cover around 850 aircraft, making it one of the largest connectivity retrofits in the group’s history. The first route and aircraft registration were not disclosed in the readable English version of the announcement.
