Robinson Unmanned has been selected for Gauntlet II of the U.S. Department of War’s Drone Dominance Program while continuing Phase 1 deliveries of its SPIRIT-FPV systems. The Wilmington, Massachusetts-based company is advancing its coaxial unmanned aircraft through a programme designed to identify vendors that can deliver low-cost, mission-ready drones at scale and through secure U.S. supply chains.
The next competition stage is due in August in Fort Carson, Colorado, after Robinson Unmanned performed strongly in the Phase 2 qualifier at Camp Grayling, Michigan. That event brought together 49 companies and about 79 drone designs across long-range strike and close-quarters tactical assault missions, with 19 companies moving on.
The DDP is structured as a rapid acquisition effort rather than a prototype fly-off alone, with manufacturing readiness carrying as much weight as flight performance. Robinson Unmanned is competing with SPIRIT-FPV, a rugged, modular all-weather platform built on the Blue UAS Cleared SPIRIT system, as the Pentagon broadens its focus from technical demonstration to industrial capacity.
