Lufthansa Group will launch its first Starlink-powered onboard Wi-Fi service on 19 August, when a Lufthansa Airbus A320neo enters passenger service with the new connectivity. The rollout begins the group’s commercial deployment of the system, branded Lufthansa Group Wi-Fi, with free access for Miles & More members and Travel ID users across all travel classes.
The service uses low-Earth-orbit satellites and is designed to support video streaming, cloud-based work and other high-bandwidth applications in flight. Lufthansa Group plans to equip about 850 aircraft across its airlines, making it the largest airline group in Europe to adopt the technology.
The initial Lufthansa installation will be followed in phases by SWISS, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, ITA Airways, Edelweiss, Discover Airlines, Air Dolomiti, Lufthansa City Airlines and Eurowings. The full fleet rollout is scheduled to continue through 2029. The inaugural route for the first aircraft has not been disclosed.
