Lufthansa Group will introduce Starlink Wi‑Fi across its partner airlines over the next three years, starting with a Lufthansa A320neo and extending to a fleet-wide rollout through 2029. Access will be free for Miles & More members and Travel ID users, while onboard use will be governed by new rules banning voice and video calls, livestreaming and speaker playback of audio or video.
The connectivity upgrade is being positioned as a group-wide standard for Lufthansa, SWISS, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, ITA Airways, Edelweiss, Discover Airlines, Air Dolomiti, Lufthansa City Airlines and Eurowings. The new Lufthansa Group WiFi portal requires passengers to use headphones when streaming audio or video, reflecting customer feedback that shaped the usage policy.
A separate report said the first Lufthansa aircraft fitted with Starlink has already entered the programme, with another 50 aircraft due by the end of 2026. The wider target is about 850 aircraft by 2029, making the initiative one of the larger in-flight broadband deployments in European aviation.
