Joby Aviation is targeting its first U.S. eVTOL pilot-program flights in Texas for September 2026, with a week-long campaign planned in the Dallas–Fort Worth area under the FAA-backed eVTOL Integration Pilot Program. The company is also maintaining its goal of carrying first passengers in 2026 as it advances certification work on its electric air taxi.
Joby has outlined the Texas flights as part of a broader push to build operational experience before commercial service. The programme is intended to give the FAA and local partners real-world data on aircraft operations, while the company continues through the final stage of type certification.
In its second-quarter materials, Joby disclosed that five aircraft are now flying and 12 more are in production. It described its latest progress on FAA certification as the strongest yet, although no date has been set for final type approval. The Texas campaign would be one of the most visible early U.S. demonstrations of the federal pilot framework for advanced air mobility.
