Wizz Air swung to a net loss of €198.2 million in the first quarter of its 2027 fiscal year, as sharply higher fuel costs and weaker pricing outweighed higher passenger volumes. Revenue rose 5.5% to €1.51 billion for the three months to 30 June 2026, while traffic climbed 25.1% to 21.2 million passengers.
Operating loss widened to €183.3 million and EBITDA fell 50.9% to €147.4 million. Fuel expense increased 39.4% to €610.5 million, adding pressure to margins alongside currency volatility and higher depreciation charges. The result compared with a €38.4 million profit a year earlier.
The low-cost carrier kept its capacity growth plan in place despite the weaker performance, with management maintaining a focus on shorter European routes and domestic markets. It also signalled a softer revenue environment for the following quarter as elevated fuel prices and weak fares continued to weigh on the outlook.
