Spain’s air navigation provider ENAIRE has joined the VERTI-GO project, a three-year SESAR 3 Joint Undertaking programme focused on integrating eVTOL air taxis and cargo drones into European airspace. The €5 million initiative brings together 12 partners, including Honeywell Aerospace, NATS, EUROCONTROL, Aena, Frequentis, Vertical Aerospace and ODYS Aviation, with demonstrations planned in southern Spain.
The project is designed to develop and validate the procedures, services and technologies needed to mix advanced air mobility traffic with conventional airline operations and crewed aircraft. ENAIRE will contribute expertise in air traffic management, U-space and drone traffic management, with work covering digital flight planning, process automation, vertiport management and coordination with air traffic controllers.
VERTI-GO runs from June 2026 to May 2029 under the SESAR 3 framework, which supports modernisation of European air traffic management and the wider Digital European Sky programme. ENAIRE is also expected to take a leading role in electric air taxi demonstrations in southern Spain in 2028, including work relevant to a possible corridor between Málaga and Marbella.
