Joby Aviation is planning to begin eVTOL Integration Pilot Program flights in Texas in September, with piloted vertical takeoff and landing operations across the Dallas–Fort Worth area. The campaign forms part of the federally backed programme designed to let manufacturers gather operational experience before type certification, while Joby still targets carrying its first passengers before the end of 2026.
The Texas flying is expected to run for a week and is intended to support future commercial service by building real-world operating data. The wider state effort is led by the Texas Department of Transportation and also includes Archer Aviation, Beta Technologies and Wisk, with a longer-term vision of linking Dallas, Austin, San Antonio and eventually Houston.
Joby has also opened a 45,000-square-foot facility at Perot Field Fort Worth Alliance Airport in Haslet as its North Texas base for the programme and future air taxi operations. The facility will support the company’s regional testing and deployment plans as it moves toward U.S. commercial launch.
