Viasat’s aviation connectivity business ended the quarter with about 4,530 aircraft in service, a record installed fleet that reflected 10% year-on-year growth. The Carlsbad, California-based company also reported $324 million in inflight connectivity revenue, with aviation revenue up 11% as higher terminal deliveries supported demand across commercial airlines and business aviation customers.
The broader communications services unit was flat at $825 million, leaving aviation as one of the clearer growth drivers in the quarter. Business aviation reached about 2,080 aircraft in service, while the company’s segment awards increased and backlog remained substantial. Viasat continues to position aviation alongside government and maritime connectivity as a central part of its transition toward next-generation satellite services.
The latest figures show continued adoption of onboard connectivity products even as the company’s overall revenue mix remained uneven. Aviation’s performance provided a visible offset to the flat communications services result and reinforced the scale of installed terminals in the fleet.
