IATA, CANSO and Airports Council International have launched a joint runway safety initiative to cut runway incursions across the sector. The framework pushes three levers: sharper safety reporting and data capture, stronger local runway safety teams, and wider sharing of progress and lessons learned. It builds on GAPPRI and the ICAO Global Runway Safety Action Plan, and the groups will use existing tools, including risk-assessment resources, runway safety checklists and support for Local Runway Safety Teams, to drive adoption at airports and among airlines and ANSPs.
