SkyWest reported second-quarter 2026 net income of $101 million and said it has agreed to purchase and operate 11 new Embraer E175 aircraft for American Airlines. The airline also approved a $250 million increase to its existing share repurchase programme.
Revenue rose 7% year on year to $1.1 billion, while operating results were supported by a 9% increase in block hours. SkyWest said higher fuel costs weighed on its pro-rate business, but demand remained strong across both its contract and pro-rate segments.
The 11 E175s are scheduled for delivery in 2026 and 2027 and are expected to replace 11 CRJ700s currently flown under contract with American. SkyWest said it continues to reduce debt and now has $1 billion less debt than at the end of 2022, while maintaining a broad fleet plan built around further E175 growth. By the end of 2027, the company expects to have 300 E175s in its fleet.
