Qantas and Australia Post have extended their long-running air freight partnership for another 10 years, with the agreement announced as Qantas Freight began its first commercial service for Australia Post from Western Sydney International Airport on 27 July 2026.
The new operation starts from the airport’s 24/7 cargo terminal and will support domestic parcel and cargo flows, with the inaugural service scheduled to depart for Brisbane that evening. The partnership is being tied to demand for next-day e-commerce delivery across Australia, adding freight capacity at Sydney’s newest airport precinct.
The relationship between the two companies dates back to November 1922, when Qantas carried 106 letters on its first commercial flight from Charleville to Cloncurry. Australia Post and Qantas have now renewed that partnership as Western Sydney International opens to freight activity and the airline expands its commercial cargo presence at the site.
