EASA Certifies Embraer ROAAS for E-Jet E2 Family

EASA has certified Embraer’s house-developed Runway Overrun Awareness and Alerting System (ROAAS) for the E-Jet E2 family, enabling entry into service with European operators following earlier ANAC approval. The system uses proprietary energy-based algorithms to calculate real-time landing stopping performance during approach and after touchdown, issuing predictive alerts when runway limits may be exceeded. This first European approval for ROAAS on the E2 satisfies CS-25.705 requirements mandating runway overrun awareness systems on new large aeroplanes, strengthening the E2’s operational safety profile against competitors. Certification clears regulator-backed installation readiness, though specific operator rollout timelines and retrofit scope for existing aircraft remain undefined.
