CFM International has obtained full FAA and EASA certification for its new LEAP-1B high-pressure turbine durability kit, enabling immediate shop visit installations and new-production integration to double time on wing for Boeing 737 MAX operators in harsh environments like the Middle East and India. The upgrade addresses critical durability challenges previously seen in extreme conditions, mirroring improvements already deployed on the LEAP-1A for Airbus A320neo fleets. CFM targets a full industrial switch to the upgraded configuration by Q1 2027, while aircraft-level Part 25 certification with Boeing remains pending for H2 2026. GE Aerospace CEO Larry Culp confirmed the milestone during the Q2 earnings call, underscoring CFM’s position as the world’s largest engine maker by units sold.
